My name is Astrid and I’m a NamGiKook bias with Yoongi as my ult! I like to write, collect photocards, and cry any time Yoongi does anything remotely cute.

Communications Mod

I’ve been a grunge focus writer in the bts fandom since 2017. my ult bias is jimin and I adore neon lights in busy cities at night, lattes, Ghibli, true crime documentaries and loud thunderstorms.

What is a (fan)zine?
A zine is a published, physically printed and/or digital collection of illustrations and written works, made by fans for fans. All fanzines are different, some include merch like acrylic charms, standees and so on.

Is the zine going to be digital-only/printed-only?
We are still unsure about this volume unfortunately, this year will depend on how the pandemic progresses.

Will the first volume be available?
As a PDF, yes. Restock of the physical version will be decided when pre-orders open.

How many contributors are you going to accept?
Writers: 8~12
Artists: 28~32
Merch Artists: 5

This might increase or decrease depending on the applications and interest

Where does the profit go?
It will be a split profit zine. This means that some profit will go towards a chosen charity, and some profit will be for contributors of the zine.

Schedule?
This is a tentative schedule for the zine, however it might change depending on the contributors and the mods schedule.

Is it going to be romantic/platonic/etc. relationships only?
It is not going to be one or the other. Much like the past volume, it would be nice to explore their relationship and dynamic in many different ways. Content creators have full freedom deciding this and which type of relationship they would like to explore in their pieces.

How will contributors be compensated for their work?
We will ask the contributors individually what would be their preferred compensation and discuss with them directly.

How long are the final writing pieces going to be?
Fics have a limit of 1500 words.

Can I use my social media as a portfolio?
Social media profiles will count as a portfolio as long as we can see your work without going through all your non-art related posts. Make sure the work is easy to navigate through.

What should I link as a portfolio?
Links to twitter moments. google drive, instagram, ao3, personal websites are okay.

Can I send more than one link?
You can send more than one link as long as it links to an art folder, e.g. you can link your google drive as a general portfolio and then a twitter moment focused on yoonkook.

Please do not link individual pieces for art.

Can I apply for more than one position?
You can apply for all of them, but if you get accepted it will only be in one.

How are you selecting the contributors?
Based on the quality of their work and not their follower count.

Are the contributors from the first volume allowed to apply again?
Yes, they are, but we will give newcomers preference over the artists and writers that were with us on the first edition, so the volumes showcase different talents within our Yoonkook community. Our past creators are also welcome to apply in new roles, though (i.e. an artist that would like to write, or vice-versa), and those will be considered first time applications.

ARTIST

Are traditional pieces allowed in the zine?
Yes, as long as you have access to a minimum 300 DPI scanner and can do color correction and clean dust particles.

Can I submit non-BTS/yoonkook work?
You can submit non-BTS/yoonkook work. However, it is highly encouraged if you submit supporting yoonkook pieces so that we may see the way you draw them in your style.

WRITER

How many works do we have to link?
There’s a limit of 8k words in each work you submit and a maximum of 3.

Do they have to be finished?
Remember this is a portfolio piece, submit what you think it will represent your work the best. It might be a finished work or an excerpt from an ongoing one, choose what you consider showcases your work the best.

Can I submit non-BTS/yoonkook work?
You can submit non-BTS/yoonkook work but you are still required to submit a minimum of 1 yoonkook-related fic. For writers there's a maximum of 3 works submission. You may link your ao3 for example as your general portfolio, but if there's a work you'd like us to read specifically you can link a max of 3.

MERCH & COVER ARTIST

Do I need to have produced merch in order to apply as merch artist?
No. You don't need experience making merch in order to be accepted as a merch artist. If you have designed some in the past it's a bonus, but not a requirement.



Do I need to be an artist in order to apply as a cover artist/designer?
Nope! Illustrations skills are not a must if you have strong graphic designs skills and vice versa!
